A Fascination For Furry Fashions

In the interest of fashion, I took off to Pittsburgh for an interview with the next up and coming designer Emmah Farrell. (Head of Mani Fashions) Luckily for me I was able to take a sneak peak at her current work and assist in a photo shoot for PA magazine. What's unique about Farrell's spring line is not what she's designing, but who she's designing for. Pampered, is a collection created exclusively for your furry friend. consisting of skirts, shawls, sweaters, scarves and capes and ranging from petites to plus sizes. Farrell explains that, although she's a baby by fashion world standards, she looks forward to the future as she plans to move into designing for smaller animals, taking an interest especially in ferret apparel. When questioned on her first experience working with pets she states that she prefers working with them as opposed to dolls, and stuffed animals. "Although your fitting to a completely different body, it's not nearly as difficult as what I've been doing!"  When it comes to picking a model, Farrell finds it just as easy. "I love her so much!" She says, when asked about her first fitted model, a kitten. "Nala's still young, so she's very easy to work with..." But it was clear that Nala's focus was not so much on the photo shoot as it was on the ball waiting in the corner! Later in my visit I witnessed some dog models as well, and surprisingly none of them seem to mind the constant adjusting as they sat still for picture after picture. They looked pretty cute too!

Whimsical Winterland...A Pearl

C.S. Lewis wrote about a place that was enchanted with snow. It's true to say that growing up I constantly dreamed about going there, no matter how much reality proved it to be impossible. Even now, the same thoughts occasionally cross my mind, leaving me in laughter at the stupidity of the subject. Recently however, I began to look at the whole idea from a new perspective. About three weeks ago, when we had at least a little snow, we went to pick up my dad from work. Parking our car I saw one of the trees glistening beautifully and grabbing my camera, hurried out to snap a picture of it. After a few minutes of constant capturing I found myself in an endless photo shoot...that is, until I was called back to the car. Being pressed for time I quickly flipped through the images on my camera and then laughing to myself, realized they looked like they were straight out of Lewis' imagination. Incredible. From the time I was seven I'd dreamed about going to such a place when, in reality, I was smack dab in the center of it.
Truthfully, there isn't a world inhabited with fawns, dwarfs and talking animals, but we do live in one that's equally as magical.

Wine and Winter

On a recent weekend my family decided to take a drive to one of the numerous wineries in our area. Even though I'm five years shy of tastings, It's safe for me to say that the one we visited most recently, is my favourite for the following reasons.
1: The scenery
 2: The unique beekeeping element.
It's not strange for me to look forward to visiting vineyards since it gives me a chance to check out the rooms, enjoy the property and sniff the smell of sweet grapes. This time however, for my added enjoyment, the winery was providing a mead and cupcake pairing, which meant that I could indulge in some sweet, cakey, sensations! Besides that fact, because of February's kind weather habits, I was able to snap a few shots of the beautiful property outside as well as the rooms inside, it was a perfect afternoon.

Poutine...A Hot and Cheesy Point.

Poutine. Crispy french fries, loaded with gravy and smothered with melted cheese curds.
Poutine. A divine chemistry only discovered in the combination of these delicious ingredients.
Poutine: The one creation you can indulge in at any hour.
Poutine. A dish so delectable it's devilish.
Poutine. The god of all comfort foods.
Poutine. Possibly the best food sensation to ever come out of Canada. As you load your fork with gravy soaked french fries and aim for your mouth, the melted cheese creates a thin string as if to say "Don't forget me!" In the milliseconds leading up to the mouthful, your tongue can already taste the salt and your nose inhales a whiff of the beautiful smell. When you finally touch your lips to the gooey goodness your senses feel that they are at Heaven's gates and once you swallow your mouth screams one thing...MORE!
Poutine...Could there be a more decadent creation? Send me your best recipes, locations and suggestions
